It looks like the new friend has bruises on her face. I was tempted to find the best wording for a joke about the boy winning the contest by beating up the girl, and a previous loser of the "violent abuse" game taking solace with the latest victim. I was stopped by the realisation that, given the time it was printed in, that might be something like the truth.
Actually, that panel came from the same strip as this one, which explains the rough treatment. Well, maybe not "explains", but "gives some background to".
Soooo... she "found" a friend, presumably in the coal cupboard where she'd put her in the first place, and from the look on the girl's face and her reluctance to be touched, I'd say she'd like to "get lost"...
Do you actually have the stories that go with these illustrations?
Ken just knew that stamp was going to pay off big when they switched to playing Post Office instead of Big Freaking Dork Show. Joan was used to his tatics and knew it didnt taste like strawberry icecream, but the new girl could be had for sure.

He should wear a condom with the next girl in line.
She's so dirty her poxed face has even infected her dress.

I bet no-one else has reanimated a corpse for the science fair, gloated Ken. The first prize was as good as his.
His sister Joan had been unusually keen, though. She never normally helped him with his animatronics. Funny, that - I wonder what she's up to?
